Congrats to Mark, Lauren, and Gene! In Seattle, I was delighted to hear the winner of the Printz Medal. . . American Born Chinese! I thought that the Printz Medal would go to The Book Thief or the Astonishing Tales of Octavian Nothing. However, when those two books were announced as Printz Honor books, I knew the American Born Chinese would win!
As a member of the 2007 BBYA selection committee, I nominated American Born Chinese for this list as well. I am glad it made the BBYA list as well as the BBYA top ten list.
